FiberLogix Launches Range of Polyimide Coated Fibers
Watford, UK June 16, 2006- FiberLogix a leading manufacturer of Specialty
Fibers, announced today the latest in its range of Optical Fibers- Polyimide
Coated Fiber. The company has introduced a range of Polyimide coated fibers
for applications in Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Sensors, Defence, Medical and
Security. The new fibers offer wide operating temperature range from -65 to
400oC, with long term operation at 360o C in harsh
operating environment.
Typically, the Polyimide coated fibers available in the market are
manufactured by a single polymer with many thin layers to form overall
coating. However, FiberLogix uses two proprietary Polymers to form dual
layers on the fiber glass cladding. The inner soft material protects the
fiber from microbend forces and offers good adhesion to the glass cladding.
The outer thin layer is hard and provides abrasion resistance and minimizes
friction.
Due to its dual layer configuration and proprietary polymers, it is best
suited for the applications where high strength and low bending loss is
required such as strain, health and pressure monitoring in structural,
geophysical and medical sensing. The polyimide coating makes the fiber
extremely robust and durable under harsh environments at elevated
temperatures.
The product family consist of Single Mode, compatible to SMF 28, High NA,
Multimode both 62.5/125 and 50/125 and 80um fiber. The fiber offers tight
and high performance optical and mechanical specifications with tight
dimension tolerances. It provides high uniformity and lot-to-lot
consistency. FiberLogix is offering these products at very competitive
pricing to the market. The new fibers join the company other fiber products
like PEEK coated, High temperature Acrylate and High NA fibers.
