High Grade PM Fiber Polarizers

Watford, U.K. – FiberLogix Ltd, a company at the forefront of the development of evanescent wave passive devices, has introduced the smallest in-line Polarization Maintaining (PM) fiber optic Polarizer in the world.  

Half the size of the company’s standard, all-fiber, in-line PM polarizer; this new product features a steel tube that is only 35mm in length and 2.6mm in diameter.  Based on its proprietary side-polish technique, the device offer extremely low loss, flat wavelength response over the entire wavelength range from 1290-1625nm and low cost. The devices are made by directly polishing on PM Panda fiber. This is contrary to existing PM devices in the market where SM Polarizer is spliced to PM fiber to obtain the final product.  The company has also developed a unique alignment method for PM fiber.  

This new specialized device is available in two configurations, PM/SM and PM/PM, both in either slow or fast axis align, offers a high extinction ratio (> 35dB), with low insertion loss (<0.5 dB) and near zero back reflection (< -70dB).

It has been designed for space-limited needs of defence, Gyro, test and measurement markets, where size is important and input/output polarization is critical to ensure optimum operation.
